Giants of the Jungle

This forest giant is as important to the fish living on a coral reef as the coral itself. Why? Well if you cut down neighbouring forest the soil is no longer trapped by the roots of the jungle trees and when it rains the soil erodes and 'runs off' into the ocean. The run off then covers the corals whose algae can no longer photosynthesise. They gradually die killing the reef and its inhabitants.
